Pooka the puffin

Here is Pooka the Puffin.   I have always enjoyed drawing birds and when I saw the Atlantic Puffin, I knew I wanted to draw this bird and make him a special character.    Below are some illustrations from a book I wrote about Pooka the puffin.

When he poked his head out, he looked up and saw the wonderful blue blanket that was the sky. He looked down and saw the rolling green meadows of the island-and beyond the meadows lay the blue - green sea. The world Pooka saw was bright and beautiful

Pooka loved looking at his bright colored parents with their orange beaks and brilliant orange feet. He wondered why He had no beautiful colors.

Pooka found many bright wonderful things he could use for decorating himself with. He found some red yarn from a child’s lost mitten.  Pooka unraveled some yarn and wrapped it around his legs to make them  look orange.   He put extra feathers in between his own black ones and placed the special  green and red feather on his breast. He immediately felt brighter and more colorful and wanted all the other puffins to see how colorful and  beautiful he had become.
